Nayesha A. Pruitt, LPC (she/her | they/them)

I am absolutely honored to partner with you on your therapeutic journey!

The spaces in which we exist do not always align with what we need to be fully human. Social constructs tell us that we must perform in a certain way in order to gain approval. We compartmentalize ourselves, showing up in spaces with only the parts of us that we think that others can handle. This fractures our identity, disallowing the brilliance and beauty of our full selves to show up authentically. Your humanity deserves to be fully acknowledged and fully celebrated.

As a Black queer woman learning to embrace her queerness, I understand the need for finding safe spaces in which we can exist fully and with dignity. Your dignity and well-being are of the utmost importance to me. I am here to affirm you and support you in taking the necessary steps towards your sustainable healing and restoration. As your therapist, I won’t have all the answers – you are the most qualified expert on you – but I promise that I will be along for the journey as you identify the answers that have always been inside of you.

There is a direct connection between thoughts, behaviors, and experiences, and while many approach this from a trauma informed perspective, I believe that healing centered engagement (Ginwright, 2018) helps the political, cultural, socioeconomic, and environmental contributions to our trauma. This healing centered focus allows us to call in our communities for the collective healing that we all yearn for and need.
